Black-naped tern – Sterna sumatrana – is a mid-sized migratory Oceanic tern of Type – seabird, Family Laridae and Order Charadriiformes. It has two populations, Indian Ocean and SE Asia, in the Indian Ocean it breeds on islands W and SW of the Indian sub-continent, and outside of the breeding season, it is pelagic to offshore of E coast of Africa. In the AWB Region it is found offshore of the Comoros islands.
