Maghreb owl – Strix mauritanica – is a medium sized African owl of Type – nocturnal-raptor, Family Strigidae and Order Strigiformes. It was until recently considered to be a subspecies of the Tawny owl and is found along the Atlas Mountain range of NW Africa. In the AWB Region it is recorded as resident in the Northern areas of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
