Montagu’s Harrier – Circus pygargus – is a medium sized migratory Raptor of the Family Accipitridae, the Order Accipitriformes and is of Type – diurnal-raptor. It breeds across Eurasia from W Europe to N of Central Mongolia, in the AWB Region it breeds in the Maghreb, Central and E Turkey, S Caucasus and NE Iran. It migrates in winter to the Sahel and Savannah of sub-Saharan Africa and down eastern Africa to Lesotho. Asian birds winter in the Indian sub-continent.
