The Red-breasted merganser (Mergus serrator) is a large long-bodied diving duck of the sub family Anatinae, it is also one of the sawbills. It has a very extensive North Holarctic breeding range and migrates in the winter to more Temperate coasts. In the AWB Region it winters on coasts of Turkey and the Black Sea, the Eastern coast of Tunisia, The Southern end of the Caspian Sea and the coasts of Iran and Pakistan along the Northern end of the Gulf of Oman.
