Black-winged stilt

The Black-winged stilt –  Himantopus himantopus is a very long-legged species of Type – wadingbird of the family Recurvirostridae and Order Charadriiformes. It is a widespread summer Breeder across S Europe and Central Asia. It migrates to Africa, The Middle East and S Asia where it joins Resident populations over the winter period. In the AWB Region it is a summer Breeder in the South Caucasus and a few areas in SW Turkey, Elsewhere there are resident populations to be found in suitable habitats in almost all the continuous AWB Countries.
