Song thrush – Turdus philomelos – is a partially migratory Eurasian thrush of Type – ground-forager, Family Turdidae and Order Passeriformes. It is found from W Europe to W Mongolia, it has a very extensive summer breeding range, in W Europe it is more resident, and it winters around the Mediterranean basin and SW Asia. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to the S Caucasus. It is resident in lower elevations of the S Caucasus, the Black Sea coastal areas of Turkey and in N Iran. As noted above it winters along all the coasts of the Mediterranean including Cyprus, Elsewhere it winters in the N Nile Valley south to Khartoum, and the Red Sea coastal areas S to Djibouti, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Qatar, and KSA.
