The Spotted redshank – Tringa erythropus is a large Palearctic migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae. It is a summer breeder to the N Eurasian Region, and migrates S to winter in the Tropics of the Old World. In the AWB Region it winters in Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Palestine. SE Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman. In Africa it winters on the coasts of Mauritania, the Maghreb states, Libya and Egypt and down the Nile Valley. The main wintering area is in the Sahel from Mali to Eritrea and Djibouti and S Somalia.
